RTA awards an AED 431Million project to develop entry/exit points for Dubai Harbour, in partnership with Shamal Holding
Dubai, UAE – The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has awarded a contract worth AED431 million to develop direct entry and exit points for Dubai Harbour, in collaboration with Shamal Holding. This initiative aims to bolster Dubai’s infrastructure to support its rapid urban expansion and demographic growth, following the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and the oversight of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Key Project Highlights:
New Bridge Construction
A 1,500-meter bridge will be constructed, featuring two lanes in each direction. This bridge will link Sheikh Zayed Road to Dubai Harbour, significantly improving connectivity. The bridge is designed to accommodate up to 6,000 vehicles per hour in both directions, drastically reducing travel time from 12 minutes to just 3 minutes.
Enhanced Traffic Flow
His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the RTA, highlighted that this project will ease movement for both residents and visitors of Dubai Harbour. The bridge will span from the 5th intersection on Sheikh Zayed Road, near the American University in Dubai, to Dubai Harbour Street, passing several key intersections, including those at Al Naseem Street and Al Falak Street.
